Self drive vehicle hire Pick up and drop off points: We have one of the most flexible vehicle hire pick up and drop off locations. We deliver self drive hire vehicles to Entebbe airport and hire vehicles can be returned at Entebbe airport on departure at the end of the self drive hire period. Vehicles can also be dropped off at Kampala hotels or at our hire vehicles depot at our offices in Namulanda along Entebbe road. We also have the flexibility of dropping off vehicles at a number of locations throughout Uganda, including Jinja, Masaka, Mityana, Kabale, Kasese, Fort Portal, Masindi, Gulu, Mbarara and all of Uganda’s national parks excluding Kidepo.
Our self drive vehicle rentals are calculated on a per calendar basis and not per 24 hours. We are flexible enough to deliver rental vehicles even as early as 3am at Kigali or Entebbe airport when you get off a 3am flight. We also receive self drive rental vehicles at airports as late as 1am if your departure flight is in the early hours of the morning. No additional out of hours service fees apply.
Most self drive car hire companies in Kampala or Entebbe charge a rental deposit fee. We would prefer to trust our self drive rental clients that they will return the vehicles in good condition. We thus have no requirement for a refundable rental deposit. Our self drive cars come with 3rd party insurance as standard. We do however arrange comprehensive insurance coverage with our vehicle insurers for renters who prefer additional coverage. Before you take delivery of the self drive hire car, we kindly request for a copy of your driver’s licence and passport for our records and for emergency planning purposes. To be able to legally drive in Uganda, one must be at least 21 years old and should have held a valid driver’s licence for the past 2 years. An international driver’s licence is not a requirement to drive in Uganda. We have no upper age limit restriction on availing self drive cars to our clients. For cross border self drive rental between Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda, we will purchase comesa cross border insurance in advance for you, so that you can avoid delays at the border crossing either at Katuna or Cyanika border crossing. We shall also prepare for the self drive hirer the requisite cross border authorization documents plus vehicle registration documents in advance to avoid inconveniences with the road traffic police in Uganda and Rwanda. We prepare everything you require for your self drive trip so that everything goes smoothly for your self drive adventure in Uganda and Rwanda.
We provide camping gear rental at US$20 per day including a rooftop tent at an extra US$10 per day for clients who prefer the comfort and added safety of a rooftop tent. Our camping gear rental includes, ground tent, camping table, camping chairs, cooking pots, cutlery, lantern, etc. We request that you carry your own sleeping bags for hygiene purposes. For some self drive clients’ peace of mind, upon request we provide additional spare wheels at own cost, additional fuel containers are not permitted and not necessary as there is plenty of refueling stations scattered all over Uganda and Rwanda. Baby car seats can also be purchased in super markets in Kampala and fitted in the self drive hire car if required.
